Sadia Kidwai is the Fair & Equitable Coordinator for the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith & Local Communities (JLI), working to support local faith actors to challenge unequal power dynamics around research and evidence in the religions and development space. For over ten years, Sadia has worked at the intersections of faith, development, research, and activism. At MADE in Europe, a youth-led campaigning charity, Sadia trained young European Muslims on how to run effective campaigns, as well as leading organizational campaigns and education work on maternal health, ethical trade, and environmental stewardship. As a Policy & Research Analyst at Islamic Relief Worldwide, Sadia developed organizational policies and guidelines on Zakat (faith-based giving), sexual and reproductive health, working in conflict zones, and environmental sustainability. Sadia also led Islamic Relief Worldwide’s research on forced migration, authoring a report exploring The Rights of Forced Migrants in Islam (2014). Sadia previously co-founded and co-chaired JLI’s Refugees and Forced Migration Hub, and has contributed chapters exploring Islamic teachings on forced migration to Islam and International Development (Practical Action Publishing, 2020) and The Refugee Crisis and Religion (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016). Sadia completed her MSc in Violence, Conflict, and Development from SOAS (University of London), and is currently based in Washington D.C.
